Matching & Towing Considerations

ClearPath Educational Observations
  • This caravan has an ATM of 3500 kg. This is its rated maximum, not its measured travel weight. Check the actual loaded caravan mass against the vehicle and towbar towing limits, and check GVM, GCM, axle and coupling limits separately.
  • Ball weight (towball download) of 240 kg must not exceed your vehicle's towball download limit. This weight also reduces the tow vehicle's available payload.
  • Ensure the combined weight of the vehicle and caravan does not exceed the vehicle's GCM (Gross Combination Mass).
  • Water, gas, cargo and accessories all add to the caravan's loaded weight — the ATM is the maximum, not the typical towing weight.

Things to Verify

ClearPath Educational Observations
  • Compliance plate figures (ATM, GTM and tare) — these are the legally binding numbers for this specific caravan.
  • Actual loaded weight on a certified weighbridge, especially if accessories or modifications have been added.
  • Towball download measurement with the caravan in loaded, ready-to-tow condition.
  • Build year vs model year — specifications can change mid-production.
  • That the variant and configuration match your specific caravan (floor plan, axle count, options).
